About Me

INTRODUCTION

WHO AM I ?

My name is Carmela Morrall aka Cam to my teammates and opponents. I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Dubai very early in my life.

When I was 4 years old, me, my brother and my dad starting passing a rugby ball in the garden in the evenings. I was hooked from that moment and decided I wanted to play rugby for England.

In Dubai I played with the boys up until age 14 at Dubai Hurricanes, then for Arabian Knights u19 girls, then Dubai Falcons Women winning the Gulf Women’s Cup at the Dubai Sevens and lastly Captained the UAE u19 Girls to victory in the Asia Sevens Championship.

At 17 I moved to the UK and joined Loughborough College and was given my first Loughborough Lightning cap just after my 18th birthday. I have now completed 3 seasons in the PWR with Loughborough Lightning and play for England u20’s.

I joined Loughborough University this year and played in the final of the Women’s BUCS Super Rugby Milk Championship. We didn’t win but I was awarded Player of the Season which was a huge honour.

CARMELA MORRALL

Rugby and sport in general is one of the best things you can do as a young girl/ young women. The benefits of playing and getting involved in rugby are many and varied including making lifelong friends, learning the value of teamwork, getting fit, getting out from in front of your screens, helping others, having fun, camaraderie, learning about yourself, stretching your limits and achieving something worthwhile.

For me I am fully focused on being the best I can be at rugby, working hard every day to improve myself and achieving my goals whilst having fun, keeping fit, helping others and making friends.

If you are already involved in rugby that’s brilliant. If you aren’t just get down to your local club and try it out. You will love it.
